I have been looking increasingly in to combined internal medicine and pediatrics (MedPed), despite my longing for pursuing a career in internal medicine, followed by a fellowship in clinical oncology. There is an increasing need for primary care physicians, and I am dedicated to pursuing a career where ever I am needed. That, and I believe it will prove intellectually stimulating, as well. The volume and types of cases seen will be broad, dealing with a wide variety of chronic and acute diseases in both adults and children.
Only time will tell.
College graduation is coming up, and the closer it gets, the more lethargic with schoolwork I have become. Not to say I have lost a love of learning; on the contrary, I have been carrying around four books in my bag that I am doing my best to take time out of the day to read, namely BRS Physiology, Rapid Review Biochemistry, White Coat Wisdom, and Heretics. That last book by G. K. Chesterton is a masterpiece. So much wisdom and love in his words; his view, and quickly becoming my own, is that the truth about all things is that they are poetic, warm, loving, and to be appreciated. If has truly fostered a sincere appreciation for the human person in all his failing, falling, loving, sensual ways.
All this reading, however, has taken me away from some school obligations that I should be getting to. I need to finish my senior research project for graduation (the topic: 4-nitroquinoline N-oxide, myristicin, and phase II enzymes).
I'll get to it eventually.
